Grow a rare and beautiful edible flowering tree with these 48 Yellowhorn (Xanthoceras sorbifolium) seeds. This hardy deciduous flowering tree or multi-stemmed shrub is prized for its spectacular spring blooms, edible nuts, and vibrant yellow fall foliage.

Native to northern China, Yellowhorn grows 8–25 feet tall with an upright, spreading habit. In May, it produces impressive 6–10 inch clusters of star-shaped white flowers with yellow centers that deepen to pink or red after pollination. When in full bloom, the tree is nearly covered in blossoms.

In autumn, ornamental fig-like capsules split open to reveal glossy black edible seeds often compared in flavor to macadamia nuts. The finely pinnate dark green foliage turns golden yellow in fall, adding multi-season landscape interest.

Cold hardy, adaptable, and moderately drought tolerant once established, Yellowhorn is excellent for edible landscapes, permaculture gardens, homesteads, or as a unique ornamental specimen tree.
