Willamette Raspberry – Set of 2 Live Starter Plants

Grow a classic favorite in your own backyard with Willamette Raspberry, a beloved heirloom red raspberry known for its rich, sweet-tart flavor and abundant culinary uses. Developed in Oregon's Willamette Valley in the early 1940s, this traditional variety has earned a reputation among home gardeners and commercial growers for its flavorful, dark red berries.

This listing includes two live Willamette Raspberry starter plants, perfect for establishing your own edible garden, backyard berry patch, or home orchard.

Willamette produces medium-sized, dark red raspberries that are delicious fresh from the garden and wonderful for homemade jams, jellies, sauces, baking, and freezing.

Why Grow Willamette Raspberry?

  • Classic heirloom variety: A time-tested raspberry with a long history of cultivation.

  • Rich sweet-tart flavor: Enjoy flavorful berries fresh or in your favorite recipes.

  • Early-season harvest: Typically produces fruit around June, depending on your climate and growing conditions.

  • Self-fertile: A single variety can produce fruit without a different raspberry variety for pollination.

  • Versatile harvest: Great for fresh eating, homemade preserves, desserts, sauces, and freezing.

  • Vigorous growth: Tall canes benefit from support along a trellis or fence.

  • Two plants included: A great start for your home raspberry patch.

Support: Train the vigorous canes along a sturdy trellis or fence to help manage growth and support the fruiting canes.

Watering: Keep the root zone consistently moist, especially while plants establish and during fruit development. Avoid waterlogged soil.

Pruning: Prune according to the variety's fruiting habit and your local growing season to maintain productive canes.

Important Seasonal Planting Information

These are 6–8-month-old starter plants. Young starter plants need time to establish their roots before facing harsh winter conditions.

If ordering in fall or winter, we do not recommend starter plants unless you have a greenhouse or live in USDA Zone 9 or warmer. In colder climates, the growing season may be too short for young plants to establish before freezing weather arrives.

For more established plants, 1–2-year-old potted Willamette Raspberry plants are expected to be available in Fall 2026, subject to availability.
