Tabasco is a type of pepper that is renowned for its intense heat and flavor. Originating from the Mexican state of Tabasco, this pepper has become a staple in many cuisines around the world. Tabasco peppers are a great addition to any garden, as they can provide a unique and flavorful kick to dishes. The seeds of this pepper can be purchased online or from local nurseries.
To grow Tabasco peppers from seed, you will need to start the process indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost of the season. Plant the seeds in small pots filled with well-draining soil and keep them at a temperature of about 70-80°F (21-27°C). Water the soil regularly and keep it moist but not soggy. Once the seedlings have sprouted, thin out the weaker plants and transfer them into larger pots.
Once all danger of frost has passed, transplant your seedlings into your garden or containers outdoors. Tabasco peppers prefer full sun and well-draining soil with a pH level between 6.0 and 7.0. Plant them 18-24 inches apart and 1/4 inch deep. Keep the soil evenly moist throughout the growing season by watering regularly.
To maximize your harvest, provide your Tabasco plants with plenty of sunlight, water, and fertilizer during their growing season. To support their growth, you can also add mulch around the base of each plant to help retain moisture in the soil. Once your Tabasco peppers have matured (usually after 80-90 days), they will be ready for harvest!
