Podocarpus macrophyllus, also known as Southern Yew, is an elegant and low-maintenance tree native to southern Japan and China. It can grow up to 20 meters tall and has strap-shaped leaves and berry-like cones that are eaten by birds. This tree is resistant to termites and water, making it a popular choice for quality wooden houses in Okinawa Prefecture.
Scarification: Sand lightly or nick with a file, Soak in water, let stand in water for 6 hours
Stratification: warm stratify for 360 days. Check every two weeks and pick out germinated seeds.
Germination: sow seed 3/4" deep, tamp the soil, mulch the seed bed
