Establish large-scale plantings with this bulk pack of 1600 Siberian Pea Tree seeds. Ideal for farms, windbreak projects, wildlife habitat restoration, and permaculture systems, this hardy shrub thrives in extreme climates and poor soils.
Native to Eastern Russia and Northern China, Siberian Pea Tree grows 15–20 feet tall and 12–15 feet wide with a rounded, upright form. It features bright green, feathery compound leaves and produces fragrant yellow pea-like flowers in spring that attract pollinators. Flowers are followed by 3-inch edible pods that ripen in summer.
The peas inside the pods are rich in protein and should be cooked before consumption. Young pods can be used as a vegetable, and flowers are edible and attractive in salads. With its extensive root system, this shrub is excellent for erosion control. As a nitrogen-fixing plant, it naturally improves soil fertility.
Extremely tolerant of cold, heat, drought, salt, and wind, it is well suited for challenging sites and large landscape projects.
