Establish a durable and highly adaptable hedge or windbreak with 100 Siberian Pea Tree (Caragana arborescens) seeds. Native to Eastern Russia and Northern China, this hardy deciduous shrub or small tree thrives in harsh climates and poor soils where many other plants struggle.
Growing 15–20 feet tall and 12–15 feet wide, Siberian Pea Tree forms a rounded, upright shape with attractive bright green, feathery compound leaves. In spring, fragrant yellow pea-like flowers bloom singly or in clusters, attracting bees and pollinators. Flowers are followed by 3-inch edible pods that ripen from yellow-green to brown in summer.
The peas (typically 3–4 per pod) should be cooked before eating. Seeds are high in protein (up to 36%) and contain beneficial oils. Young pods may be cooked as a vegetable, and flowers can be added to salads for color and mild pea flavor.
This species is especially valued for:
✔ Nitrogen-fixing ability (improves soil fertility)
✔ Windbreak and shelterbelt plantings
✔ Erosion control (extensive root system)
✔ Wildlife habitat and pollinator support
✔ Deer resistance
✔ Exceptional cold, heat, drought, wind, and salt tolerance
Excellent for permaculture systems, homesteads, restoration sites, and difficult growing conditions.
Seeds are securely packaged and labeled.
