Date palm seeds have a tough, protective outer coat that requires patience to sprout. To break dormancy and speed up germination, clean the seeds thoroughly to remove all fruit residue, then soak them in warm water for 5 to 7 days, changing the water daily. Plant the soaked seeds about 1 inch deep in a deep pot filled with a loose, well-draining sand-and-peat mix. Place the pot in a consistently warm, humid spot (ideally around 85°F / 30°C) and keep the medium lightly damp—sprouts will emerge as strong, resilient spikes!
