Grow your own Rowan Tree (Sorbus aucuparia), also known as European Mountain Ash — a hardy, fast-growing ornamental tree valued for its white spring flowers, vibrant fall foliage, and brilliant orange-red berries.

Native to Europe and Asia, this deciduous large shrub or small tree grows 20–40 feet tall with an upright oval crown that broadens with age. In May, clusters of small white flowers bloom in showy flattened corymbs. By late summer and fall, abundant clusters of bright orange-red berries develop and often persist into winter, providing an important food source for birds and wildlife.

The compound green leaves turn beautiful shades of yellow to reddish-purple in autumn, making Rowan one of the most reliable fall color trees for colder climates. Extremely hardy (Zone 3), it tolerates cold, urban conditions, and moderate drought once established.
