Grow a truly rare avocado variety with Marcus Pumpkin Avocado Seeds, an heirloom avocado known for its very large, pumpkin-shaped fruit and excellent performance in warm climates. This variety is hard to find and not grown commercially, making it a great choice for collectors, gardeners, and avocado enthusiasts.

Marcus Pumpkin is a Type B avocado believed to be a Guatemalan × West Indian (G × WI) race, offering medium cold tolerance and vigorous growth. The fruit is famous for its huge size—sometimes exceeding 3 pounds—with a mild, creamy flavor. Even when grown as an ornamental, this evergreen tree makes a striking landscape specimen.

⚠️ Please note: Avocados grown from seed may not grow true to the parent plant. Seed-grown trees are best for ornamental growing, experimentation, or future grafting.

🌼 Growing Information

The Marcus Pumpkin Avocado Tree (Persea americana) is an evergreen tree that can reach 30 feet tall and wide when mature. It thrives in full sun and prefers well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH between 5–7. Water weekly during establishment, then as needed once established, especially during dry periods.

This variety performs best in USDA Zones 9a–11 and is well suited for South Florida and similar climates. Container-grown trees can be planted year-round. Regular pruning helps maintain structure, as avocado wood can be brittle in strong winds. Mulching and fertilizing several times per year with an avocado-specific fertilizer is recommended.

Blooming typically occurs February–April, with fruiting following October–November. Fruits do not ripen on the tree and should be harvested mature, then allowed to ripen off the tree.
