David Phlox features fragrant, pure white flowers that are densely arranged in pyramidal clusters atop upright, sturdy stems. These stems rarely need staking.
The plant reaches a height of approximately 36 to 40 inches and has a spread of about 18 inches.
It blooms from early summer to late summer.
Native to the eastern U.S., David Phlox is hardy in USDA zones 4 to 8.
The foliage is thin and needle-like, providing an interesting texture.
Sunlight: David Phlox thrives in partial sun to full sun, receiving at least 5 hours of direct sunlight.
Soil: Plant it in soil that is average or fertile, slightly acidic, or neutral in pH.
Watering: Provide average water and add organic matter to the soil during planting, especially if the soil is sandy.
Fertilization: Use a balanced (10-10-10) fertilizer lightly in spring and just before flowering begins.
Spacing: Space David Phlox plants at least 24 to 36 inches away from other plants to allow for air circulation and prevent disease.
