Grow a special Florida-discovered avocado variety with this Oro Negro grafted avocado tree. Oro Negro means “Black Gold” in Spanish, a fitting name for an avocado known for its dark skin and rich, creamy fruit.
Discovered in 1989 by grower Mike Hunt in a commercial avocado grove in Miami-Dade County, Florida, Oro Negro was evaluated for approximately 20 years before being introduced for home garden and commercial growing.
This variety is believed to be a seedling of Monroe avocado, possibly crossed with a Mexican-type avocado. It produces fruit with rich, buttery flesh and a smooth, creamy texture.
