Grow Oregon Holly Grape (Mahonia aquifolium) from seed with this 120-seed pack of a hardy, evergreen shrub prized for its bright spring blooms, edible berries, and year-round ornamental foliage.
Native to the Pacific Northwest, this slow-growing, suckering shrub typically reaches 3–6 feet tall with a spreading to upright habit. In spring (April–May), clusters of mildly fragrant yellow flowers bloom above glossy, holly-like leaves. By late summer, blue-black berries with a soft white bloom develop in grape-like clusters. The berries are edible and can be used for jams or wine, while also attracting birds and wildlife.
Foliage emerges reddish-bronze, matures to deep green, and often turns burgundy or purple-bronze in fall and winter, providing beautiful multi-season color. Ideal for woodland gardens, shady borders, foundation plantings, loose hedges, and naturalized landscapes.
