Grow your own Northern Catalpa (Catalpa speciosa) from seed with this 30-seed pack of a fast-growing, hardy, and highly ornamental shade tree.

Native to the central United States, Northern Catalpa matures to 40–70 feet tall with a rounded to irregular crown and bold, heart-shaped leaves up to 12 inches long. In late spring (May–June), large clusters of orchid-like white flowers with purple and yellow markings bloom in dramatic upright panicles. These showy blossoms are followed by long, slender seedpods (10–22 inches), giving the tree its common name “Cigar Tree.”

Catalpa is widely planted as a lawn and street tree due to its rapid growth and tolerance of heat, cold, drought, seasonal flooding, and urban conditions. It performs well in difficult sites including moist low areas and dry, poor soils.

You will receive seeds similar in quality to those shown in the listing photos.
