Grow Northern Catalpa (Catalpa speciosa) from seed with this 100-seed pack—perfect for larger landscape plantings, shade tree projects, or reforestation efforts.

This fast-growing deciduous tree reaches 40–70 feet tall with a rounded to irregular crown and bold, heart-shaped leaves up to 12 inches long. In late spring (May–June), large upright clusters of orchid-like white flowers appear, each marked with purple and yellow spotting. These striking blooms are followed by long, slender seedpods (10–22 inches), giving rise to its common name, “Cigar Tree.”

Northern Catalpa is widely valued as a lawn and street tree due to its tolerance of cold, heat, drought, seasonal flooding, and urban conditions. It adapts well to challenging sites including moist low areas and dry soils, making it an excellent choice for versatile landscape use.
