Grow one of North America’s most beautiful native flowering evergreens with these 50 Mountain Laurel (Kalmia latifolia) seeds. This broadleaf evergreen shrub is prized for its stunning late-spring flower clusters and glossy year-round foliage.
Native to eastern North America, Mountain Laurel typically grows as a dense, rounded shrub 5–15 feet tall and wide, though it may occasionally develop into a small tree. In May, the plant becomes covered in large terminal clusters (up to 6 inches across) of intricate cup-shaped flowers. Each bloom (about 1 inch wide) features five distinct sides and ranges in color from soft rose to white, often with striking purple markings inside.
Its leathery, dark green evergreen leaves provide year-round structure and beauty, making it an excellent companion to rhododendrons and azaleas. Mountain Laurel thrives in cool, acidic woodland conditions and adds elegance to shade gardens, cottage gardens, and naturalized landscapes.
⚠️ Note: All parts of this plant are toxic if ingested.
