Stewartia ovata, also known as Mountain Camellia or Mountain Stewartia, is a deciduous flowering shrub or small tree found in the southern Appalachian Mountains. It has smooth, flaking grayish-orange bark and oval-shaped leaves that turn orange, red, or gold in the fall. This rare species grows in hardwood forests near streams at elevations below 800m and is considered uncommon throughout its range.
Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours
