Add long-term beauty and character to your landscape with 60 Lacebark Pine (Pinus bungeana) seeds. Native to China, this unique evergreen conifer is treasured for its striking exfoliating bark that peels in decorative patches of pale yellow, olive-brown, red, and purple as it matures. The colorful bark display becomes more pronounced with age, making it one of the most ornamental pines available.
Lacebark Pine grows slowly to a mature height of 30–50 feet with a broad, open crown. It is often multi-trunked but can be trained to a single trunk for a more formal appearance. The stiff, glossy green needles grow in bundles of three and remain attractive year-round. Small yellowish-brown cones provide additional seasonal interest.
Although bark exfoliation may take several years to fully develop, even younger trees can show attractive mottling. This pine is excellent as a specimen tree, near patios where the bark can be admired, and is also suitable for bonsai. In traditional East Asian gardens, it symbolizes longevity and endurance. You will receive seeds similar in quality and viability to those shown in the listing photos.
