Bring the rich, storied heritage of Japan’s premier wine region into your home vineyard with our premium pack of 100 Koshu Grape (Vitis vinifera) seeds. With a legendary history spanning over a thousand years in the sun-drenched valleys of Yamanashi near Mount Fuji, the 'Koshu' variety is highly celebrated by wine connoisseurs and fruit collectors globally. It is world-renowned for its breathtaking, thick, translucent pink-to-light purple skins that glow beautifully in the orchard sun. Cultivated as a dual-purpose masterwork, Koshu is highly prized both as a fresh, clean, and mildly sweet table grape and as the exclusive foundation for crafting clean, delicate, and minerally white wines boasting subtle undertones of fresh citrus and white flowers.

Our select package contains 100 high-viability, freshly harvested seeds chosen specifically for their excellent genetic purity, robust disease resilience, and strong adaptation potential. The Koshu vine is a vigorous, heavy-climbing woody perennial decorated with large, expansive emerald-green foliage that offers magnificent ornamental canopy coverage over arbors, trellises, fences, and pergolas. Naturally adapted to high-humidity climates with excellent resistance to berry-splitting and rot during autumn rains, this historic variety is a highly rewarding choice for backyard orchardists seeking professional vineyard results and premium aesthetic charm.

You will receive: ✔️ 100 Premium-quality Koshu Grape seeds ✔️ Freshly harvested and thoroughly cleaned to ensure optimal viability and robust growth ✔️ Packaged in professional, moisture-controlled botanical sachets to maintain long-term freshness ✔️ Specialized grape seed stratification and trellis management guide included

🌿 Cultivation & Care Information

  • Botanical Name: Vitis vinifera (Var. Koshu)

  • Common Name: Koshu Grape / Yamanashi Pink Grape / Japanese Muscat Variant

  • Plant Type: Deciduous perennial woody fruiting vine

  • Sun Requirements: Full sun (Essential: Demands at least 6–8 hours of intense, direct sunlight daily to promote strong vine development, heavy flowering, and optimal color/sugar accumulation in the hanging clusters).

  • Soil / Medium: Thrives in deep, loose, well-draining loamy, sandy, or gravelly soils. Highly sensitive to stagnant, waterlogged roots; a soil pH between 6.0 and 7.0 is ideal.

  • Watering: Requires regular, deep watering during the first two seasons to establish a massive, deep root system. Once fully established, the vine is moderately drought-tolerant. Always water at the base to keep foliage dry and minimize fungal risks.

  • Growth Habit: A vigorous, heavy-climbing woody vine. It absolutely requires a strong, sturdy trellis, pergola, wire fence, or arbor system to support its extensive canopy and protect its heavy hanging fruit clusters.

  • Temperature: Highly adaptable. Exhibits excellent resilience and cold-hardiness, allowing it to enter winter dormancy successfully and return vigorously in the spring, while performing exceptionally well in warm, humid summers.

💡 Pro Growing Tip

Grape seeds possess a natural internal dormancy that requires a period of cold temperatures (stratification) to trigger sprouting. To achieve maximum germination success, place your Koshu seeds inside a damp paper towel or mix them with moist peat moss, place them in a sealed zip-lock bag, and store them in the refrigerator (35°F to 40°F / 2°C to 4°C) for 60 to 90 days. After this cold treatment, sow the seeds 1/4 inch deep in a warm, loose, well-draining seed-starting mix. Place under bright light and keep the soil lightly moist—your premium pink grape vines will begin their journey in 2 to 4 weeks!
