Grow one of the world’s most iconic rainforest giants with these 480 Kapok (Ceiba pentandra) seeds. The Silk Cotton Tree is renowned for its rapid growth, towering height, and massive umbrella-shaped canopy that rises above surrounding vegetation.
Under ideal tropical conditions, Kapok can reach 150–200 feet tall, sometimes growing over 10 feet per year in its early stages. Young trees feature distinctive protective spines on the trunk, while mature trees develop impressive buttressed roots that provide stability against storms and seasonal drought.
Creamy white to pale pink flowers bloom before the leaves appear and are pollinated primarily by bats. Large woody pods later split open to reveal silky, cotton-like fiber surrounding the seeds. This natural fiber has historically been used in pillows, flotation devices, and padding due to its buoyancy and water resistance.
This bulk quantity is ideal for reforestation projects, tropical restoration efforts, wildlife habitat establishment, and large landscape plantings.
