Grow one of the most majestic trees of the tropical rainforest with these 20 Kapok (Ceiba pentandra) seeds. Known as the Silk Cotton Tree, this towering, fast-growing species can reach impressive heights in tropical climates and develops a wide, umbrella-shaped crown.

Young trees feature distinctive spiny trunks for protection, while mature trees develop massive buttressed roots that provide strength and drought resilience. In season, creamy white to pale pink flowers bloom before the leaves appear and are pollinated by bats. Large woody seed pods later split open to release silky, cotton-like fiber surrounding the seeds.

Kapok is valued worldwide for its lightweight wood and buoyant fiber traditionally used in pillows, cushions, and flotation materials. It is also an excellent shade tree in tropical landscapes and attracts wildlife.
