Gently file or nick the seed coat with a sharp knife or sandpaper. Place the scarified seeds in a plastic bag with a moistened medium such as sand, vermiculite, or peat moss. Seal the bag and place it in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 months. Sow the scarified seeds in pots or seed trays filled with well-draining soil mix. Plant the seeds about 1/2 to 1 inch deep in the soil. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
