Jezo Spruce forms a classic pyramidal shape, making it an excellent specimen tree, wind-tolerant landscape tree, or traditional Christmas tree. Its short, dense needles make it especially desirable for bonsai cultivation. In spring, small male and female cones appear on the same tree, maturing into 2–3½ inch cones by early fall. The grayish-brown bark becomes deeply fissured and exfoliates attractively as the tree matures.
