Establish large plantings with 5,400 Jezo Spruce (Picea jezoensis) seeds. Native to northeastern Asia, this majestic evergreen can reach 75–150 feet tall in its natural habitat and is admired for its deep green needles with bright silvery-white undersides. The contrasting foliage creates a striking shimmering effect in the landscape.
Jezo Spruce develops a strong pyramidal form, making it ideal for reforestation projects, windbreaks, timber production, Christmas tree farms, specimen landscapes, and bonsai cultivation. Its short, dense needles are especially valued by bonsai growers. In late spring, small male and female cones form on the same tree, maturing into 2–3½ inch cones by early fall. Mature trees develop grayish-brown bark that becomes deeply fissured and exfoliates attractively.
This fast-growing conifer performs best in cool climates with moist, well-drained soil. It tolerates strong winds but does not tolerate shade, heat, drought, or pollution. Best suited for USDA Zones 2–7.
