Grow a majestic northern evergreen with 1,800 Jezo Spruce (Picea jezoensis) seeds. Native to northeastern Asia, this impressive conifer can reach 75–150 feet tall in its natural habitat and is admired for its very dark green needles with striking silvery-white undersides. The two-toned foliage creates a beautiful shimmering effect when the wind moves through the branches.
Jezo Spruce forms a classic pyramidal shape, making it ideal for specimen plantings, windbreaks, reforestation projects, Christmas tree production, or bonsai cultivation. Its short, dense needles are especially desirable for bonsai growers. In spring, small male and female cones appear on the same tree, maturing into 2–3½ inch cones by early fall. As the tree matures, the grayish-brown bark becomes deeply fissured and exfoliates in irregular scales.
This fast-growing evergreen thrives in cool climates with moist, well-drained soil. It tolerates strong winds but does not tolerate shade, prolonged drought, heavy heat, or pollution. Best suited for USDA Zones 2–7.
