Japanese Red Cedar (Cryptomeria japonica), also known as Sugi or Japanese Cedar, is a tall, elegant evergreen conifer valued for its symmetrical pyramidal shape, soft bluish-green foliage, and striking reddish-brown bark that peels in decorative strips.

In its native habitat of Japan and China, this tree can exceed 180 feet in height. In cultivation, it typically grows 40–60 feet tall with a 25–35 foot spread. Its layered horizontal branching creates a refined, architectural presence in the landscape.
