The Styphnolobium japonicum, or Japanese Pagoda Tree, is a beautiful addition to any garden with its white flowers blooming in late summer. Not only does it add color to the garden, but it also has many health benefits and is commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine. Additionally, the tree's wood can be used for traditional Japanese woodworking tools and its seedpods and flowers can produce a yellow dye.

Scarification: Soak in hot tap water, let stand in water for 12 hours. If the seed fails to imbibe, boiling water may be required.
