Bring one of Japan’s most beloved and historically rich premium citrus varieties into your own orchard with our elite pack of 100 Iyokan Orange (Citrus iyo) seeds. Second in popularity only to the Satsuma mandarin in Japan, the Iyokan is a legendary natural hybrid discovered during the Meiji era, celebrated for its superb culinary characteristics. Beneath its thick, easily peelable, brilliant orange rind lies an exceptionally plump, bright flesh that is world-renowned for being incredibly juicy, tender, and bursting with a refreshing, sweet-tart flavor profile complemented by a rich, intensely aromatic fragrance that fills the room upon peeling.

Our select package contains 100 high-viability, freshly harvested seeds chosen specifically for their exceptional genetic purity and superior germination potential. Citrus iyo grows into a gorgeous, highly vigorous medium-sized evergreen tree decorated with lush, glossy dark green foliage and clusters of delicate white blossoms that emit an intoxicatingly sweet perfume during the spring flush. Naturally resilient and heavy-yielding, it thrives spectacularly planted directly in orchard soil or managed as a sophisticated, decorative patio container tree for smaller garden spaces.

You will receive: ✔️ 100 Premium-quality Iyokan Orange seeds ✔️ Freshly harvested and hand-selected to ensure optimal viability and robust sprouting ✔️ Packaged in professional, moisture-controlled botanical sachets to maintain long-term freshness ✔️ Easy-to-follow citrus germination and container planting guide included

🌿 Cultivation & Care Information

  • Botanical Name: Citrus iyo

  • Common Name: Iyokan Orange / Iyo Mikan / Japanese Sweet Citrus

  • Plant Type: Medium-sized evergreen citrus fruit tree

  • Sun Requirements: Full sun (Essential: Requires at least 6–8 hours of bright, direct sunlight daily to promote prolific flowering, heavy fruit setting, and optimal sugar development).

  • Soil / Medium: Requires rich, loose, deeply organic, and well-draining sandy loam or loamy soils. Extremely sensitive to waterlogged or standing root zones; a soil pH between 6.0 and 7.0 is ideal. For container growth, utilize a premium citrus potting mix blended with perlite or pumice.

  • Watering: Requires regular, deep watering to keep the root system evenly damp but never soggy. Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry out completely before watering thoroughly again.

  • Growth Habit: A sturdy, upright evergreen tree with wide, robust branching habits and a naturally rounded, ornamental canopy. Responds beautifully to structural pruning and transitions excellently into container life.

  • Temperature: Thrives beautifully in warm, temperate, subtropical, and Mediterranean climates. Features good cold-hardiness once established, but young seedlings should be strictly protected from harsh freezing temperatures and frost.

💡 Pro Growing Tip

Citrus seeds respond beautifully to gentle preparation before planting. To significantly accelerate sprouting, use your fingernail to carefully peel away the thin, outer clear protective skin (the testae) from the seed, taking care not to nick the inner green embryo. Soak the prepared seeds in warm water for 12–24 hours, then sow them 1/2 inch deep in a warm, sterile seed-starting mix. Cover the pot with plastic wrap to seal in humidity, place it under bright indirect light in a warm room (75°F to 85°F / 24°C to 29°C), and watch your premium Japanese citrus shoots emerge!
