Grow one of Florida’s most reliable late-season avocados with this grafted “Monroe” Avocado Tree, a vigorous West Indian × Guatemalan hybrid known for its heavy production, large fruit size, and smooth, creamy texture.
This is a true grafted tree, not a seedling, ensuring consistent fruit quality and earlier production compared to seed-grown plants. Monroe is a strong, upright grower that produces impressive fruits weighing approximately 1.5 to 2.5 pounds each, with glossy green skin and rich, mild, nutty flavor.
Fruit matures from November through January, with peak flavor typically in December. This variety is moderately cold tolerant down to approximately 25°F once established and performs best in USDA Zones 9B and warmer.

🌿 Transplanting & Care
This is a grafted tree. Do not disturb the root ball during transplanting, as this can cause severe shock or plant loss.
Before transplanting, soak the nursery pot in about 2 inches of water for approximately 2 hours to help secure the root ball. When removing from the pot, carefully cut the plastic away rather than pulling on the tree.
You may transplant into a larger 3–5 gallon container and grow until the tree reaches 4–6 feet before planting in the ground, or plant directly into a sunny garden location.
Provide full sun once established, at least 6–8 hours daily. If moving from shade to full sun, allow gradual acclimation to prevent leaf burn.
🌿 Soil & Water Requirements
Monroe performs best in slightly acidic, well-draining sandy soil with a pH between 4.5 and 7.0. Mulch around the base to conserve moisture, keeping mulch 3–5 inches away from the trunk.
Provide approximately 1 inch of water per week during establishment. Avoid overwatering, especially once mature, as excessive irrigation can affect fruit quality.
Young trees benefit from nitrogen-rich fertilizer during active growth. Balanced fertilizers such as 10-10-10 or 20-20-20 may be applied every 6–8 weeks during the growing season.
📦 Shipping & Arrival Information
Trees are shipped in soil within the original nursery pot to maintain hydration. Shipping delays and weather conditions are outside seller control. If your tree arrives severely damaged, contact the seller immediately with photos of the plant and packaging exactly as received.
