This variety produces medium to large fruit (10–12 oz) and typically ripens January through May. The Fuerte avocado tree has a large, spreading growth habit and performs best in warm inland climates. It is moderately frost tolerant down to about 28°F and is suitable for USDA Zones 9–11. In colder regions, container growing is recommended so the plant can be protected during winter.
