Sophora secundiflora, also known as Frijolillo or Texas Mountain Laurel, is a slow-growing evergreen shrub or small tree native to the southwestern United States and Mexico. It is popular for its fragrant purple flowers and produces hard, bright red seeds. Despite being highly poisonous, the plant has some beneficial uses such as the seeds being used for necklaces and the wood producing a yellow dye.
