Establish a large-scale fragrant hedge or nursery planting with French Lilac (Syringa vulgaris), also known as Common Lilac. This upright deciduous shrub grows 8–15 feet tall and produces dense pyramidal clusters of sweetly fragrant purple flowers each spring.
Extremely cold hardy (to -31°F), French Lilac thrives in northern climates and requires winter dormancy for best performance. In late April to early May, shrubs are covered in showy blooms that attract butterflies and hummingbirds while filling the air with one of the strongest natural floral fragrances available.
The 1600-seed bulk size is ideal for:
• Long privacy hedgerows
• Property borders and windbreaks
• Nursery propagation
• Homestead plantings
• Large landscape installations
• Conservation and restoration projects
Lilacs are adaptable, long-lived, and easy to grow in full sun with well-drained soil. Prompt pruning after flowering improves bloom production the following year.
