Grow your own native Fragrant Sassafras tree from seed and enjoy one of North America’s most colorful fall displays. Sassafras albidum is a beautiful deciduous tree known for its uniquely shaped leaves, spicy fragrance, and brilliant autumn foliage in shades of yellow, orange, red, and purple.

Young trees are pyramidal in shape and mature into a rounded canopy reaching 30–60 feet tall. The distinctive mitten- and trident-shaped leaves release a pleasant aroma when crushed. In spring, small greenish-yellow flowers appear, followed (on female trees) by dark blue berries held on bright red stems—highly attractive to birds.

An excellent choice for naturalized plantings, wildlife gardens, screens, or as a striking lawn specimen.

You will receive seeds similar in quality to those shown in the listing photos.
