Plant on a larger scale with this 480-seed bulk pack of European Crab Apple (Malus sylvestris) — ideal for orchard establishment, reforestation projects, food forests, wildlife habitat plantings, and hedgerows.

Also known as French Crabapple or European Wild Apple, this historic species is believed to be one of the ancestors of the modern cultivated apple. In spring (April–May), trees are covered in fragrant pinkish-white blossoms that attract bees and pollinators. By late summer and fall, small tart fruits develop, ripening from green to yellow with an orange-red blush.

The fruit is excellent for jams, jellies, cider, juice, and vinegar production. It is also highly attractive to birds and wildlife, making this an excellent tree for habitat restoration and naturalized landscapes.

Fast-growing and adaptable, Malus sylvestris thrives in Zones 5–9 and tolerates cold, wind, and moderate drought once established. It can be trained for espalier, pruned into hedges, or shaped for bonsai. This tree provides four-season interest with showy spring blooms, summer foliage, edible fall fruit, and yellow autumn color.

You will receive seeds similar in quality and viability to those shown in the listing photos.
