Grow a rugged Southwestern native with these Desert Prickly Pear pads (Opuntia phaeacantha). This hardy cactus is known for its showy blooms and tulip-shaped purple fruit, earning it the nickname “Tulip Prickly Pear.”

Native to the Mojave Desert and much of the Southwest, this variety thrives in extreme heat and cold—tolerating temperatures from approximately -20°F to 120°F when planted in well-draining soil. In full sun, mature plants produce abundant flowers that attract bees and pollinators, followed by juicy purple fruit.

This listing includes 2 healthy pads measuring approximately 4–7 inches. Once established, these pads quickly grow into a low, spreading cactus perfect for xeriscapes, permaculture gardens, edible landscapes, and container growing.

Grown without synthetic pesticides or herbicides.

Please note: Pads contain spines and fine glochids. Handle carefully with gloves.

You will receive pads similar in size and health to those shown in the listing photos.
