Crataegus intricata, also known as Copenhagen Hawthorn or Thicket Hawthorn, is a deciduous shrub native to eastern Canada and the eastern United States. It can grow up to 3 meters tall and has white flowers that bloom in May, followed by edible brown to red fruits that ripen in September. This shrub is adaptable to various growing conditions, serves as excellent food and cover for wildlife, and its fruits and flowers have traditional medicinal uses as a heart tonic.
Scarification: Soak in sulfuric or nitric acid for 45 minutes and wash under cold water for 5-10 minutes.
Stratification: warm stratify for 120 days, cold stratify for 120 days
Germination: sow seed 1/4" deep, tamp the soil, mulch the seed bed
