Chinese Holly (Ilex cornuta), also known as Horned Holly, is a bold and versatile broadleaf evergreen prized for its glossy spined leaves, bright red winter berries, and strong architectural form. Native to China and Korea, this durable shrub is ideal for hedges, privacy screens, topiary, bonsai, and foundation plantings.
Typically growing 8–10 feet tall as a dense shrub, it can also be trained into a small tree reaching up to 25 feet. Its distinctive rectangular leaves feature prominent spines at the tip, creating year-round texture and structure in the landscape. In spring, small fragrant white flowers bloom, followed by clusters of bright red berries in fall that persist into winter, providing outstanding seasonal interest and attracting birds.
This 200-seed pack is perfect for larger hedge plantings, structured evergreen screens, or ornamental landscape designs.
