Grow premium sweet cherries even in warm climates with Cherry ‘Royal Crimson’, a low-chill, self-fruitful variety developed by Zaiger Genetics. This grafted live tree stands approximately 3–4 feet tall with a bigger, thicker trunk and ships established in a 3-gallon pot with a healthy root system.
Royal Crimson produces large, crimson-red cherries with excellent flavor and sweetness. Harvest typically occurs early to mid-May, making it one of the earlier sweet cherry varieties for low-chill regions.
With an estimated chill requirement of only 200–300 hours, this variety is ideal for warmer climates where traditional cherries struggle. It is also an excellent pollenizer for Minnie Royal and Royal Lee.
