Bradford Pear, also known as Callery Pear (Pyrus calleryana), is a fast-growing ornamental deciduous tree prized for its spectacular early spring blooms and vibrant fall foliage. Native to China and Taiwan, this adaptable landscape tree typically grows 30–50 feet tall with an upright pyramidal form in youth, gradually maturing into an oval to spreading crown.

In early spring, before the leaves fully emerge, the tree becomes covered in dense clusters of brilliant white flowers, often making the entire canopy appear snow-covered. Glossy green leaves provide a lush summer display and persist late into the season, turning striking shades of reddish-purple, orange, yellow, or red in fall.

Highly tolerant of cold, drought, and urban conditions, Bradford Pear is widely used as a street tree, shade tree, and specimen ornamental. It is also suitable for bonsai cultivation.

  3. Sow 1/4 inch deep and keep evenly moist (not soggy).

Growing Tip: Plant in well-drained soil in full sun for the best flowering and fall color display. Early structural pruning is recommended to promote strong branch development. Protect from strong winds when young.
