The Eucalyptus globulus Blue Gum, also known as the Tasmanian Bluegum, is a versatile tree native to Australia but widely cultivated in other parts of the world, including California. It has smooth, bluish-white bark and broad juvenile leaves covered in a blue-grey, waxy bloom. The tree is valued for its essential oil, timber, pulpwood, and as an herbal tea, but it is considered invasive in California and poses a high fire hazard.
Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours
Stratification: cold stratify for 30 days
Germination: sow seed 1/16" deep, tamp the soil, lightly mulch the seed bed.
