The blue palo verde, also known as Parkinsonia florida, is a unique tree native to the Sonoran Deserts of the Southwestern United States and Northwestern Mexico. It sheds its foliage for most of the year and has a blue-green trunk, branches, and leaves that perform photosynthesis. In late spring, it blooms with bright yellow flowers that attract pollinators, and it also has a rich history of Native American use.
Scarification: Soak in hot tap water, let stand in water for 24 hours, repeat process on seed that did not imbibe
Stratification: none required
Germination: sow seed 1/16" deep, tamp the soil, mulch the seed bed
