The Blue Ash is a tree native to the American Midwest and can also be found in Southern Ontario and parts of the Appalachian Mountains. It is known for its dark green leaves that turn pale yellow in the fall, as well as its gray, platelike bark. The Blue Ash has historical uses, such as providing a blue dye from its inner bark, and its wood is versatile and used for various products. It also serves an important ecological role as a food source for North American frogs, although it faces threats from the emerald ash borer.
Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours
Stratification: warm stratify for 60 days, cold stratify for 60 days
Germination: sow seed 3/8" deep, tamp the soil, keep moist, mulch the seed bed, can be sown outdoors in the fall for spring germination
