The Fraxinus bungeana, also known as Beakleaf Chinese Ash, is a small ash native to China that can grow up to 5m. It thrives in alkaline soils and can tolerate strong winds and atmospheric pollution. The bark of this plant contains aesculin and fraxetin, which have anti-inflammatory, anticoagulant, analgesic, and anodyne properties. Additionally, the bark is capable of controlling bacterial infections, coughs, and diarrhoea, and the plant is famous for producing a commercial insect wax used for making candles and as a polish.
