Grow a bold and resilient desert native with these 30 Banana Yucca (Yucca baccata) seeds. Known for its dramatic form and toughness, this evergreen shrub is ideal for xeriscapes, dry gardens, and low-maintenance landscapes.
Banana Yucca is a slow-growing evergreen shrub or small tree native to the southwestern United States and Mexico. It typically matures to 4–6 feet tall, beginning as a dense basal clump of long, sword-shaped blue-green leaves 12–40 inches in length. Decorative white fibers curl along the leaf margins, adding texture and character. Over time, a short trunk develops, lifting the foliage above ground level.
In late spring to early summer, thick clusters of creamy white, bell-shaped flowers—often tinged with purple—rise on tall stalks up to 2 feet high. These blooms are followed by large, fleshy, banana-like edible fruits measuring 4–9 inches long. Extremely tolerant of heat, drought, wind, salt, and poor soils, Banana Yucca is perfect for challenging growing conditions.
