Arnot Bristly Locust (Robinia fertilis) is an extremely hardy, fast-growing deciduous shrub ideal for erosion control, slope stabilization, and difficult sites. This vigorous shrub can reach 8–12 feet tall in just a few years and spreads readily by root suckers, forming dense thickets that provide rapid ground coverage.

In late spring (May–June), fragrant sweet pea-like pink to pale purple flowers bloom in showy racemes, adding ornamental value to this tough landscape performer. The branches are covered with distinctive bristly hairs, and foliage turns yellow in fall.

Highly adaptable, Arnot Bristly Locust tolerates cold, heat, wind, salt, drought, urban pollution, deer, and rabbits. It thrives in poor or sandy soils and fixes nitrogen, improving soil fertility over time.

⚠️ Due to its aggressive suckering habit, this shrub is best suited for slopes, naturalized areas, reclamation sites, and large open spaces—not formal garden settings.
