Grow one of the hardiest and most historic apple varieties in the world with these 20 Antonovka Apple seeds. This 500-year-old Russian apple is famous for its extreme cold tolerance, vigorous growth, and dependable production.
Antonovka is widely used as rootstock in cold climates due to its hardiness (down to -50°F), adaptability, and strong root system. The trees produce large golden-yellow apples, sometimes with a red blush. The flesh is firm, aromatic, and distinctly tart with a wine-like flavor. Excellent for fresh eating, juice, cider, baking, jam, and preserves.
In spring, trees are covered in fragrant white blossoms before the leaves fully emerge. In fall, foliage turns golden yellow, adding seasonal interest. A mature tree can produce very high yields and may live for decades.
