Grow your own hardy native fruit trees with this pack of 120 American Persimmon seeds. Diospyros virginiana is a resilient, adaptable deciduous tree known for its fragrant spring flowers, vibrant fall color, and delicious late-season fruit. Ideal for food forests, homesteads, wildlife plantings, and backyard orchards, this species is both ornamental and productive.

American Persimmon can reach 35–60 feet at maturity, forming an oval to pyramidal crown. Mature bark becomes dark gray to black with distinctive blocky texture and orange tones in the furrows, adding winter interest. Glossy dark green leaves turn brilliant shades of yellow, orange, and deep red in autumn.

This species is dioecious, meaning male and female flowers grow on separate trees. Fragrant white to greenish-yellow flowers bloom in late spring. Female trees produce round orange fruits up to 2 inches wide. Fruit is very astringent when unripe but becomes richly sweet and flavorful once fully ripe—often after frost. Ripe persimmons are excellent fresh and perfect for baking, jellies, syrups, puddings, and drying.

Highly adaptable, American Persimmon tolerates drought, occasional flooding, and a wide range of soil conditions once established. Plant multiple seeds to increase the chance of establishing both male and female trees for fruit production.
