Grow your own nutritious, flavorful nuts with these 16 American Hazelnut (Corylus americana) seeds. Native to Eastern North America, this hardy and adaptable shrub is prized for its edible nuts, ornamental value, and importance to wildlife.

American Hazelnut is a rounded, multi-stemmed deciduous shrub that typically grows 8–16 feet tall. In early spring, attractive yellow-brown male catkins appear, followed by small red female flowers. By mid to late summer, plants produce sweet, egg-shaped nuts enclosed in leafy husks. The flavor is similar to European filberts and excellent for roasting, baking, or fresh eating.

Fall foliage can display beautiful shades of orange, red, rose, and yellow. This plant spreads naturally, making it ideal for hedgerows, windbreaks, naturalized areas, edible landscapes, and wildlife gardens.

For best nut production, plant at least two shrubs for cross-pollination.
