Grow your own nutrient-rich berries with this 50-seed pack of American Elderberry (Sambucus canadensis). These seeds are from a Northern source, offering increased cold hardiness compared to southern collections—ideal for colder climates.

American Elderberry is a fast-growing, multi-stemmed deciduous shrub that typically reaches 5–12 feet tall with a similar spread. In early summer, it produces large, flat-topped clusters of fragrant white flowers up to 10 inches across. By late summer to fall, showy clusters of dark purple to black berries develop. The fruit is commonly used for jellies, pies, syrups, and elderberry wine. (Note: berries should be cooked before consumption.)

In fall, foliage turns beautiful shades of yellow, orange, and red. This shrub spreads by suckers and is excellent for hedges, naturalized plantings, wildlife gardens, and erosion control. Birds are highly attracted to the fruit.
