Ideal for large-scale plantings, restoration projects, hedgerows, or nursery production, this 5,400-seed bulk pack of American Elderberry (Sambucus canadensis) offers exceptional value. These seeds are sourced from a Northern range collection, providing superior cold hardiness compared to southern seed sources.
American Elderberry is a fast-growing, multi-stemmed deciduous shrub reaching 5–12 feet tall and wide. In early summer, it produces large, flat-topped clusters of fragrant white flowers up to 10 inches across. By late summer and fall, abundant clusters of glossy dark purple to black berries develop. The fruit is widely used for syrups, jams, jellies, pies, and elderberry wine. (Berries should be cooked before consumption.)
Fall foliage turns beautiful shades of yellow, orange, and red. Elderberry spreads naturally by root suckers, making it excellent for wildlife habitat, windbreaks, erosion control, naturalized areas, and privacy hedges. Flowers attract pollinators, and berries support dozens of bird species.
