Establish a productive and wildlife-friendly planting with this 150-seed pack of American Elderberry (Sambucus canadensis). These seeds are from a Northern source, selected for superior cold hardiness compared to southern collections—making them well suited for colder regions.

American Elderberry is a fast-growing, multi-stemmed deciduous shrub that typically reaches 5–12 feet tall with a similar spread. In early summer, it produces large, flat-topped clusters of fragrant white flowers up to 10 inches across. By late summer into fall, clusters of glossy dark purple to black berries appear. The fruit is widely used for jellies, syrups, pies, and elderberry wine. (Note: berries should be cooked before consumption.)

In autumn, foliage turns attractive shades of yellow, orange, and red. This shrub spreads by root suckers and is excellent for hedges, screens, wildlife gardens, erosion control, and naturalized plantings. Birds are especially attracted to the abundant fruit.
